Norway-Arkhangelsk
After many long years in which the Norwegian business sector has more or less stayed away from Arkhangelsk, it now appears that Norway could be facing a new spring in its commitment to this region. As everyone knows, Norway and Arkhangelsk have a very long history of cooperation. What has changed?
In September this year, Norway opens a new honorary consulate in Arkhangels. The same month Margaritinskaja Yarmarka (market) takes place, and a number of Norwegian events will be held:
The Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs Jonas Gahr Store will visit Arkhangelsk;
Innovation Norway, SIVA, Barents Secretariat, Northern Norwegian counties etc. will be present;
Norwegian-Russian Chamber of Commerce will hold a network meeting in the city;
There will also be a round table conference between Norwegian business interests and local authorities.
The Arkhangelsk Oblast administration has energetic people who want to see increased foreign investments. Arkhangelsk and Severodvinsk will play a major role in the supply base for oil and gas production in the Barents Sea and Kara Sea.
The timing of revitalizing the trade cooperation with Arkhangelsk is good.
In order to succeed, however, one is dependent on a positive attitude from Russian federal agencies like the Migration Service and others, and that they stand behind the Oblast administration's new political line ...
